I love casual dress down days; and I am sure many of you are with me on this one! My everyday wear is totally a t-shirt and jeans; so I wanted to share a few essentials with you guys to make it easy to throw those “on the go” outfits together but still rock a fashionista vibe!
Neutral Slip-on Sneakers
Shoes can definitely make or break an outfit! The good thing about these is that they are a must for almost any seasonal wardrobe because they will roll right over into the fall and were totally fine in the spring. We don’t have much of a winter in Louisiana; but the few days that we do get, I prefer a warmer boot. So three seasons out of 4 – win for me! But seriously, I can literally wear my neutral/taupe, gray, or black sneakers with everything in my closet; and they add a little more a fashionista dressier vibe to my super casual outfits. My gray ones are from Dolce Vita, linked below, and they run true to size! They are on sale for $84; but they are also priced lower from different sellers on Amazon, which is how I purchased them. I know these are pricey; but the comfort is TOTALLY worth it! I usually don’t spend that much on casual sneakers; but I don’t regret this purchase at all. In fact, I got them in rose gold also :D. My neutral ones are from, Steve Madden, and I would honestly size up ½ size in these. I wish I would have; but they are getting better now that I’m breaking them in. Side note: when purchasing the taupe Steve Madden, the color option is gray on their site; but these are definitely brownish/taupe in person. I saw them in person before buying and I was surprised to see gray as the option on the site. They also come in a few other fun colors! My black ones are from American Eagle and true to size. They are out of stock; but I linked a similar pair here!
Crop Denim
These have totally added some spice to outfits this season, especially with the dressy ones, which we will get to in a later blog. However, for casual looks, they are, of course, right in the middle of shorts and jeans (I know, I’m Captain Obvious); but if you’re feeling like you’re too casual with shorts for the day, crop jeans will do the trick! You can add some heels with them (pictured below: left) and have a more dressy casual look; or you can pair the slip on sneakers (pictured below: right) and keep it super casual. My favorites are from America Eagle, as they are my favorite place to purchase jeans; and both are linked below. Now, one of my fav looks is the grunge look so I’m kind of obsessed with the destroyed stone ones on the left; but I love to change it up depending on the day! Commercial break: In the left photo below, I clearly have amazing sticky boob pads on because I wasn’t that gifted in life LOL; so if you need the recommendation, I will look up the brand ;). The patchwork (pictured below: right) are out of stock; but I linked it to the page of crops so you can pick your fav!
Destroyed Denim Shorts
These are festival heaven, right? I will admit they are must have for any festival, esp here in Louisiana with the heat; but in the summer, denim shorts are my go-to, unless I didn’t shave my legs! Again, some of my fav shorts are from American Eagle; but a recent pair that I’m obsessed with is from Fringe (linked below)! As you can see, those have floral appliqués, which are huge this season! You can find appliqués on almost everything denim in stores right now; but if you haven’t found your fav yet, just get some iron-on appliqués from a craft store and create a DIY project!
Choker Top
Chokers are back, which I am stoked about, and not going anywhere for a while; so companies started making them built into shirts! Brilliant! This gives us a little variety in our choker accessories by allowing us to rock the look without having to repeat the same choker numerous times! But I’m not going to lie, I’m a total repeater in my wardrobe, esp with shoes and accessories, and you guys will notice throughout the blog. Financially, I just don’t feel that it’s feasible to buy new stuff for each outfit; so in all honesty, I’m a fan of repeating and taking the challenge to still make it look like a new outfit! I’m not alone, right?! 😀 My top, pictured below (top), is from TJMaxx; and since each TJMaxx location is different, I included links to some of my favs with the prices from their website!
Off-shoulder Tops
I LOVE off-shoulder tops!!! They add a bit of elegance to an outfit. Now, I will admit, these can also make or break an outfit. For instance, the styles differ where they sit on the shoulders. I like the ones that sit higher or go straight across; but I’m not a fan of the ones that droop and hang off the shoulders because they give an illusion that brings everything down, making us look shorter and giving a bit of a frumpy impression. However, they ones with the elastic also pop up every time we lift our arms; so, we always walk around feeling restricted. Those are the breaks for me! I have searched and searched and found two different styles that are perfection.
- The off-shoulder bodysuit top! We will talk about my obsession with bodysuits later; but the bodysuit aspect allows us to move freely without the rest of the shirt/dress popping up off of our shoulders!
- The off-shoulder tops that have separate elastic around the bust and the arms because the separated elastic also allows us to move freely and not feel super constricted.
My fav is my black and white top that cooperates with my pet peeves; but I have linked other styles here for you guys, as I need to expand my collection on these.
Choker Necklace
I will elaborate more on chokers in the “Six Must Have Summer Accessories” blog (coming soon); but for now, let’s just say that a choker can be the perfect finishing touch to wrap up an entire outfit! It’s like the sprinkles to top off the cake! Pictured below are linked to Haus 131, top photo, and Chinchilla Chokers, bottom photo!
