American Eagle Jeans Guide
A very common topic that I get lots of questions about is American Eagle jeans! Main question – Why American Eagle? But I also get questions about the quality, fit, size consistency, etc? Sooooo, with that said, I wanted to break it down for you guys with details because I usually just get to answer them on Instagram comments or DM’s. Sooooo, here’s your go-to guide to shopping at American Eagle for jeans!
Shop my look (red top is out of stock but it’s available in white):
FYI, this blog is not sponsored in any way by American Eagle. If you watch my Insta-stories, you know that I wish it was (lol) because I have been trying to reach them forever; but, they are impossible to get in touch with. My time will come though! But, seriously, I am not getting paid or getting free clothes to write this blog. I am just a huge fan of the brand, love wearing them, and have never been unhappy with a denim purchase; so, I want to make the shopping experience easier on you guys! For the recored, I love them so much, that I’ve, unashamingly, bought back-up pairs of my absolute favs in case I lose them. Why would I lose them? Don’t ask because I got nothin for you on that except it’s better to be safe that sorry! Justified! 😀 Sooooo, let’s chat #AEjeans!

American Eagle Jeans – Quality:
This is one of my favorite things about American Eagle jeans!! The quality is so good, even better than some designer jeans that I’ve had in the past. I’m not a big designer jeans shopper because, to me, if it fits and makes my butt look good, it’s a win! I have never had a pair of American Eagle jeans fit bad and they ALWAYS make the booty look good! No joke! Also, I love destroyed denim, as you can tell in almost every Instagram photo where I’m wearing jeans; and, for their destroyed denim, the distressed part is even stretchy. Honestly, I think the quality for the price is unbeatable!
American Eagle Jeans – Price:
I kind of just explained it by saying the quality for the price is unbeatable but there’s more. In my experience, if the jeans are not on sale, wait a day or two because they ALMOST ALWAYS have a sale running. They usually have BOGO 50% off, or sometimes a percentage off. If you don’t have the app, get it because sometimes they will have an exclusive sale and do 25% off on app orders. Their sales are usually pretty awesome, esp when it comes to their jeans. The icing on the cake – if you’re not a member of the rewards program, sign up now! Well, after reading this blog :D. (I will remind you at the end!) As a member of the rewards program after every 5th pair of jeans you purchase, you get a free pair at ANY price! They had one pair that was $99 and I got them FREE! Talk about a small victory! Oh, and the reward program does’t cost anything, so it’s a win/win!
American Eagle Jeans – Size:
American Eagle jeans run very true to size! If you’re ordering online, check the size chart, as it is very accurate. If you’re still questioning it, go in-store and try on; then, once you know your size, you’re all set because the styles are all very consistent! My favorite, they even have lengths – short, regular, and long! I’m all about equality in the jean world! I’m 5’4″ and the short length is the most perfect fit! I’m super spoiled by not having to fold, cut, or hem my jeans. Also, lastly, they have a few “online only” sizes also; so, if you don’t find your size in the store, try online, as they have an extensive selection. My size is an online only item; but, if I don’t like it, I can still return in store! Again, win/win! Oh and don’t forget, for tomgirl or boyfriend style jeans, remember to size down a size! For size reference, I’m 5’4″ and about 100lbs and I wear a 0 short in all styles except tomgirl or boyfriend, which I size down to a 00 short.
American Eagle Jeans – Styles:
*On American Eagle’s website, you can also click the “fit details” at the top of each denim category to get extra details! They literally have every combination that you can think of when it comes to denim styles.*
Jeggings – So to break it down, if you want the best skinniest, yet still stretchy fit, go with the jeggings! These aren’t the leggings like you see in “as seen on tv” commercials without pockets that fit like actual leggings, which aren’t flattering. These are about to be your new favorite jeans because they look, feel, and fit like jeans. They’re amazing and so flattering!!! This is the style I have majority of because they are my absolute fav! They’re the most flattering and make the booty look amazing. They are a skinny fit all the way to the ankle, hence “jegging” (aka jean legging, but more jean than legging). These are the skinniest of the skinny. They always hold their shape, are very supportive, and never bag out.

Skinny Jeans – If you’re looking for skinny but not super tapered at the ankle, go with the “skinny jean” style. These fir skinny in the thigh but have a little extra room at the ankles. I don’t usually buy this style because it reminds me a little of the straight leg style (on me) and I prefer the super skinny fit or flare … I’m one extreme to the next with jeans lol. The model photos give a great example of how they fit so always take a close look there too 🙂
Cropped – This is my other fav style, esp in the spring and summer! In fact, I did a full blog on cropped jeans last year and I’m expanding my collection this year! In New Orleans, it’s just way too hot to wear jeans sometimes; and, if shorts are a little too casual, *cue* cropped jeans! They have them in all fits so definitely check the model photos but they will still run true to size.

Tomgirl Jeans and Boyfriend Jeans – Both are going to be relaxed fits. The Tomgirl is going to be more relaxed and straight leg as opposed to the boyfriend jeans that will have a little flare to them at the bottom. Definitely check out pics for details. In these two styles, definitely size down a size because they run big. For me, I prefer to get the high waisted tomgirl style because that’s my fav fit! I tried the regular waist and they were still too big for me even with sizing down; so, I suggest trying those on in store! But, I will admit, I’m obsessed with the high waisted tomgirl, as those are my definition of a boyfriend jean! I have two more pair on on the way!

Shop my look:
High-Waisted Girlfriend Jeans and Mom Jeans. Girlfriend jeans are going to be fitted at the waist and slim fit throughout the leg with a tapered ankle. Mom jeans are going to be more of a relaxed fit all around. These are two styles that I do not own yet; however, now that I realized that in writing this blog for you all, consider it my mission to get them and I will do a separate blog on them to let you all know how they fit! Stay tuned!
The rest are the standard styles but for a quick review: Boot Cut is a small flare at the lower leg to fit over boots. Flare will be a more extreme flare than boot cut. Both boot cut and flare are fitted at the waist and thigh. High-Waisted Slim-Fit is more straight leg slim fit all the way down, but high waisted. Wide Leg jeans are fitted at the waist and loose on the entire leg.
Oh, and last but not least, Overalls – Overalls come in all the styles, also. I actually just ordered a tomgirl overall and sized down one so I will let you all know how they end up fitting! If you order the regular or skinny fit, stay true to size 😉
I hope this helps you all understand AE jeans if you had any questions or I hope it allows you to find your new favorite jeans; and, if you need help or have specific questions, feel free to contact me, as I own A LOT, like an embarrassing amount, of their denim!
