Sheraton Bay Point Resort, Panama City Beach
Good morning, friend! I am so excited to finally share the details from Dean and I’s recent vaca to the Sheraton Bay Point Resort, Panama City Beach. It was such a fun and much needed getaway, as it has been a while since we soaked up some sun, sand, and beach vibes. I’m definitely going to cover all the details of the resort for you; but, first, let me just say that I highly recommend staying at the Sheraton Bay Point because it’s almost like its own little private island. This is especially great for a family vaca because you know your kids are always safe and close by.
*not linking outfits in this blog because most are out of stock; but, if in stock, details are on the pic of that outfit on my Shop My Instagram page*
The resort is kind of secluded away from everything with it’s own little private beach, two pools, and three eateries on site, so everything you need is right there on the property. Grocery stores and restaurants aren’t far if you need them; but, honesty we only left the property once and it was a three min golf cart ride (five minute walk) to a pizza restaurant. To me, that’s technically still on the property! Now, let’s get to the details!
Resort Details
Before getting into the beaches, amenities, food, etc., I have to say that we were super impressed with the decor and appearance of the Sheraton Bay Point Resort. The blue beach house color scheme used throughout was very relaxing and soothing; and the decor and paintings were just beautiful. If there wasn’t a beach and pool outside, I could literally just chill in the lobby all day and get work done or read because it definitely has home away from home vibes, and the chandeliers are a perfect topping to the decor. The rooms are the same vibe with modern furniture and decor, but still with a cozy, home vibe!
Beaches
The Sheraton Bay Point Resort has two beach options! My favorite is the private beach at the resort because it’s a relaxing and beautiful walk on the pier and it’s just on the side of one of their restaurants, Pelican’s Bar & Grill, which means food, drinks, and restrooms :). The cutest little cabanas and beach chairs, which are super relaxing, face the water with a beautiful view. Plus, they have the paddle boards here, which I will chat about in activities. This beach definitely has lots of marine life in it, as we had fish flop right onto the paddle boards and we were catching all the sand crabs. Ok, not really “catching”, just holding, petting, and letting them go. They were so cute! If you’re not into things touching your feet in the water, the other beach is going to be for you, but I loved seeing and enjoying the marine life!
The other beach option is Shell Island, which I love for the clear waters! It is about a 15-minute shuttle boat ride, which is super relaxing, from the resort. When going to Shell Island, you want to take everything you need for the day because there are no restaurants or restrooms, so definitely pack a lunch, snacks, sunscreen, drinks, and all the necessities. The shuttle has chairs and umbrellas for a small fee, which I suggest using because it is much easier to grab and give back when getting on and off the boat. I will admit, I was in the water much more on Shell Island because I’m one of those “oh my goodness, something touched my foot” kind of people LOL, but, again, I truly loved seeing all the marine life. Oh, and it was crazy funny when a literally fish jump in our friends shorts! Seriously wish we could have caught that on camera!
Activities
There were so many activities for all ages around the resort so I will list them and give a little snippet on each!
Paddle boarding: This is on the private beach and it was my favorite activity. We spent a half day on the paddle boards and only stopped because it was time to put them up at sundown, as you can tell from the pics. Ironically, it’s easier than it looks and still not as easy as it looks, if that makes sense lol, but still super fun! I learned that I have great balance!
Two Pools: The pools were so relaxing and the water was perfect in both of them! We went in the morning for a bit when we weren’t shooting; but, honestly, we enjoyed them the most in the evening into the night after the day at the beach, as they didn’t close until 10pm.
Yolo Bikes: The Yolo bikes are super fun because the resort is so pretty that it was great to get caught up in the nature side of it. They even have kids bikes so you can make it a family thing! Definitely go a tour of the whole resort because, if not, you will will miss some of the fun things!
Gym/Yoga: They had a great gym area that overlooks the pool; and, although, I’m not much of a yoga person, the relaxing room and gorgeous view from the yoga room made me want to try it. I’ll be honest, I didn’t work out on the trip because I was soaking up the sun; but, Dean was disciplined enough to get some workouts in. He makes my decisions look bad lol.
Game Room: As much as I wanted to make it back to the game room to beat Dean in air hockey, Pizza was calling my name because the sun made me hungry; but, the game room is very kid oriented, which is great for a family vaca. It’s located just outside the pools, by the bar, so you can relax and get some drinks and Vitamin D while the kids go off to the game room. As a future parent, I’m sold to go back there when Dean and I have kids 🙂
Golf: They have a gorgeous golf course and we got to take a tour of the entire thing. A goal is to one day treat my parents to a vacation here because my dad loves to play golf and I know my mom will love the private beach and pools!
Food
We definitely did not have a meal disappoint the entire time we were there. All of the food was really good and the portions were very generous sizes so we always had some leftovers to keep in our little mini fridge. Did I mention each room has a mini fridge?! That’s huge for Dean and I because we always travel with snacks and we hate wasting food; so, we were able to eat our leftovers later :). I’ll give you all the run down on each eatery!
Cabana Cafe – #1 plus for Cabana Cafe is that it is also a Starbucks! To be clear, each room has coffee and a coffee pot; but, if you want the caramel macchiato’s and all that fancy stuff, Starbucks is in the Cafe right there next to the lobby :D. On top of good coffee choices, Cabana Cafe has great snacks, smoothies, and breakfast options – everything from fruit to bacon, egg, and cheese croissants, kolaches, etc. Plus, it’s a great little reading or workspace nook if you’re on a work trip!
Tides Restaurant and Lounge- We ate at Tides twice! We ordered room service one morning and our eyes were way bigger than our stomachs so we were VERY full after, but it was so delicious! Once we realized it came from Tides, we picked that as our dinner spot, as well, and we were so pleased with our meal. We had two friends with us; and, it was so good, Dean ate his own food and portions of everyone else’s LOL! I have no clue how he put down the amount of food that he did, but it was that good!
Flip Flops Pool Bar – This restaurant and bar is right in between the two pools. Perfect location, right?! We got some amazing margaritas to sip on while poolside! They were so good, not too sweet, not too strong, just perfect for a day of soaking up the sun.
Pelican’s Bar and Grill – This spot was closed during the weekdays that we were there but the menu looked delish. Plus, it is next to the little private beach so it’s definitely a go-to because it’s super convenient if you spend the day at the private beach.
Bricks and Barley Pizza – This little pizza joint wasn’t connected to the resort but it was literally less than a 10-minute walk. However, the Sheraton Bay Point Resort staff will bring you over in one of their golf carts and you just call them to come pick you up after, free of charge. We loved this because we did’t have to drive or park, just enjoy a refreshing little evening nature ride through the resort. The staff actually recommended the pizza place to us and they were right, it was the best pizza in Panama City Beach, FL. The menu had tons of choices, especially specialty dishes, and we were all so pleased. We, as well as our friends, ate there twice because they deliver to the hotel too! Like I said, everything you need is in one place at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort!
Spa
The Spa is so gorgeous and serene! I wish I could have spent more time there. Although we didn’t have time for massages, the service list sounds amazing and I wish we would have had time. Also, I love that they offer some complimentary services as well, such as the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. We definitely enjoyed getting to relax in the jacuzzi after a long day of being in the sun!
Conference and Event Rooms
Last but not least, we were super impressed with the conference and event rooms that they had for businesses, conventions, or even weddings! They also had an outside pavilion for weddings. Makes me wish Dean and I would have had a beach wedding but maybe we can renew our vows there :). On another note, we definitely want to look into doing some film festivals, conventions, or even a Dean West Acting Studio acting workshop there because we loved the business area of the resort.
We had such a blast at the Sheraton Bay Point and I cannot wait to go back. When you go, tag me in your pics so I can see the fun :). Feel free to comment below with any questions or vaca suggestions for our next trip!
XOXO,
Michelle
