Top 5 Sweaters of the Season
Is it just me or has this been one of the coldest winters that we have had in a while? I know here in New Orleans, Louisiana it definitely has been considering it officially snowed twice lol! That’s legit a record! With that said, I found myself buying more sweaters this winter than ever before; so I wanted to share my top 5 sweaters of the season (in no particular order) with you all since most of them are on sale now and we still have some cold weather ahead. Now that I think about it, last year, I barely busted out my jacket and I think, on record, it was one of the warmest winters; but, honestly, I’m enjoying the cold! Side note, everything in this blog is super affordable; but, when you get to the last two looks, everything is on major sale!
Black Chenille Turtleneck Sweater
This is a must in your closet for every fall/winter season, as every woman should own a black turtleneck sweater because it is a classic! It has never and will never go out of style (ahem, Audrey Hepburn rocked it). In fact, last year, I let go of my previous one in my closet clean-out and, later, I totally regretted it. To be honest, I don’t know what I was thinking; but, maybe it was just meant to be for me to find this one this year because, if you read my Chenille 101 blog post, we all know chenille is my favorite material. Soooooo, when I saw it in a black turtleneck for under $20, I knew I had found my match! Now, this one will stay in my closet for a long time. This exact one sold out immediately; but I linked the hunter green, which I love, along with similar black options!

Burgundy Off-The-Shoulder Chenille Sweater
Here I go with the chenille again! Ok, I know I’ve talked about it like crazy this season but it’s legit my fav material because it’s sooooo cozy. Like I said, it’s been a cold winter so maybe that’s why they’re at the top of my list! Regardless, I’m the #1 fan :D. I’m a sucker for anything off-the-shoulder and burgundy; so this sweater had me at hello with my three favorite qualities in one and it’s only $22.90. Honestly, the first time I saw it, I didn’t order immediately because I was debating on another item to order with it; and, the next morning, it was already out of stock. I was so bummed because I ended up not getting the other item anyway; so, when it came back in stock, I scooped it up immediately and I’m so glad I did! Lucky for you all, it’s still in stock and it comes in a peacock color, as well, which is super cute!

Mustard Chenille Cowl Neck Sweater
Ok, so this is kind of right in between a cowl neck and a turtleneck, which is perfect in my opinion because I’m not the biggest fan of cowl neck. I like the style but I don’t always favor it on me. In fact, I think I only have a bodysuit and maybe one sweater that’s cowl neck. Anyway, cowl neck or not, this is probably the coziest sweater that I own and I’ve had it on major repeat this entire season, as you all have probably seen on my Insta-stories. Yes, it’s chenille material again; but it’s the last chenille one in my top 5! However, if you’re a fan like I am, you’re probably a little bummed about that lol! Besides the material, I’m a big fan of this color because it has the yellow vibe but it’s still neutral enough to go with a lot of other colors and it’s not too loud or bright making it too “statementy”. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE statement pieces; but for my everyday sweaters, I want to be able to mix and match it without people being like “Is that the 4th day in a row she’s worn that sweater?”! LOL! In all honesty, if I don’t wear my outfit long, I throw it on my ottoman by my bed and just put it back on the next day – can we say LAZY! Call it what you want; I call it efficient! This sweater is from earlier in the season; so, if you missed it since it’s sold out, I linked similar below. P.S. the booties in this pic are even more amazing in person and come in a few colors. You can wear them three ways- shaft folded down, shaft straight up, or shaft straight up and snapped!

Lavender/Purple Ombre Stitchmix Sweater
This sweater snuck it’s way into my top 5 and I’m so glad it did. It was an impulse buy solely because it was on sale and it helped me reach my free shipping minimum (typical of me); but I wasn’t sure about the material and knew I had the chance to return it at no charge. When it arrived, Dean and I had a collab picture to do and it went perfect with the colors; so, I wore it the rest of the day and fell in love with it. I got tons of compliments on the color and the fit was great. This one is not the coziest as far as warmth because it has little eyelets, hence the ‘stitchmix’ name, but a cami under it fixes that! However, I like to wear it on the warmer days (50’s-60’s) so I’m still dressing for the season, but I know it won’t make me break a sweat. Side note: I also ordered the red after liking this one so much, but I returned it because it was a little bold; so, if you like a more subtle ombre look, stick with the purple or blush (also linked below)! The same style also comes in solid colors so I will link those below, too! All are on sale for $19.99!!!

Burgundy Plush Drop Shoulder Sweatshirt
Ok, this sweater is pure comfy feels! In fact, I ordered it in 3 colors because I love it that much! The side slits on it give it that little ‘extra’ and make it perfect for a half tuck-in! I know the description of it says “sweatshirt” but, in my opinion, it is right between a sweatshirt and a t-shirt. It’s definitely not as thick as a sweatshirt and doesn’t have the tapered bottom like most sweatshirts do, which is why I love it more for an everyday look because it comes across a little dressier. You can totally tell from the pic, it’s not a typical sweatshirt. I guess the “plush” part is what makes it so comfy and cozy. I ordered the burgundy first; and, I liked it so much that I got it in blue and oatmeal, as well, for spring because it will be perfect for spring weather! This one all comes in a few fun tie-dye colors that I will link below for you, also! All are on sale for $19.99.
I also really enjoyed pairing this with my blush velvet blazer (on sale for $25) because I’m so into color-blocking those two shades this season! I got so many compliments on that look because the blazer gave the top a dressier vibe. I liked both looks below including the blazer :). My jeans are currently on sale for $20! And the snood, which comes in 6 colors, and beanie, which comes in 4 colors, are both on sale for $4.99!!! Such a steal!

Have a blast snagging these major sales or similar pieces and stay warm over the coming days! For those of you in warmer areas, I’m a little jealous; but, like I said earlier, a part of me is loving this cold season, esp this snow day!
Until next time, peace and love!
XOXO,
Michelle West
