Real Feels! I will be the first to admit, I was not feeling the return of the kitten heel trend at the start of this season; and a part of it might have been because when I competed at Miss USA, our swimsuit competition shoe was a kitten heel. I know you’re probably thinking, “How did you rock the Miss USA stage in kitten heels?”; but I guess the adrenaline rush was like “kitten who?”! That was in 2008 and this trend was not happening then; so those shoes were chunked to the side really quickly when I returned home lol! If you’re wondering, I don’t regret it, as they wouldn’t fit into the current trend anyway :). I even included a pic below for you guys; so now we’re real friends :p.
However, with all of the modern styles, from block heels to ankle straps to slides and everything in-between, mixed with the kitten heel comeback, I got sucked in like I was standing in quicksand!!! I feel like it adds a “period piece” flare to our wardrobe.
I kind of look at it like this: Sometimes, I don’t feel super dressy in flats, which is just my personal preference, but I’m just NOT feeling like wearing heels all day … sooooo, *cue kitten heels*. They are the perfect medium while adding some dressy flare to an outfit that would instead be considered casual.
Plus, let’s think about it, the actual definition of a “kitten heel” is a shoe with a heel of approximately 1 – 2 inches in height. Usually, it’s a tapered heel; but the block kitten heel is the modern trend twist! I mean, didn’t we already bring these back with booties? I think so! So, now we are just gravitating it over to the dressy side! I’m officially a fan! Also, a lot of people ask my advice for an alternative to flats but they wouldn’t dare walk in stilettos or high heels all day, and they are tired of wedges; so if that’s you, your prayers have officially been answered!
Side note: Don’t be fooled by the red bottoms! They’re definitely NOT Louie’s! I would have to eat canned tuna fish for six months if I bought a pair of LB’s :p
